Tornado gr4 flight manual
Compared to the F. It initially only had one pylon under each wing. Before being deployed to the Gulf War the Tornado F. Following the Gulf War the F. It also got the BOL which was a Sidewinder missile rail with an integrated countermeasure dispenser. During the Bosnian War the Tornado F. This set-up was apparently called the "Pig Fit" due to the detrimental impact it had on flight performance. Late in its life the Tornado F. A small number of Tornado F.
The GR. Once in service the weapons load of the GR. By the end of the Tornado's service life there was apparently no real difference between the Tornado GR. I will come back and add some photos of the different version when I have time. It seems on the GR. I've not seen any mention of flare dispensers mounted in the airframe. I see no reason to delay the Tornado IDS because of balance. It has nice flight characteristics, RWR, radar, but two cannons with limited amount of ammo rounds per cannon and low velocity.
The Tornado ADV will be the most anticipated variant for all three nations. But I think we are ready to see the IDS in the game now. Jaguar GR1 moved down to 9. The top speed is a little interesting. Depending on what modifications are installed that's modifications as in what you would see in the Phantom modification list, rather than aircraft version it seems the Vne of the IDS is anywhere from to KTS IAS at sea level. I think this is exclusive to the GR4. Theoretically it was capable of mach 2.
GR1 and ADV variants probably shouldn't have this issue. It was introduced in the s? There's no way it could have ever operated an older AIM-9G. Perhaps because GR4 was in service for longer it was retrofitted with more modern engines? Also the climb rate is confusing. Not sure if the climb was actually that low or if the F3 could achieve higher during unrestricted climb?
The top speed is certainly good mach 2. The phantoms are multi-role fighters after all. Following speculation on the expansion of jets into tier 7, this does raise more doubt on how competitive the F3 will be in air RB against other early tier 7 jets. We'd revisit the Lightning F6 implementation where it became clear there isn't a game mode that brings out the best in dedicated interceptors e. I hope we can see some kind of tier 7 fighter to counter these jets.
If not the CF hornet, perhaps Eurofighter Typhoon early with hypothetical missiles? AIM-9M and skyflash could be good? Leek, M. I don't know how accurate those images above are as the F3 was also lighter than the GR variants yet those above state its heavier. Top speed of mach 1. If its pre a specific mod its only around mach 1 at sea level. I'm not sure either, the rate of climb seems really low for a mach 2. But keep in mind the Tornado F3 had a lengthened fuselage and foxhunter radar, perhaps that could add more weight over the GR1?
That's interesting, thanks. It makes you wonder what the true performance could be like if there were no limitations. Engine efficiency also plays alot in speed engine can make more or less thrust at different speeds.
The performance manual is available to purchase online if anyone wants to sacrifice there hard earned coin on the inevitable bug report material lol. No way!! Gaijin can make that purchase But when I think about it, the primary objective was long range interception rather than quick intercepting like the Lightning or air superiority. Also, there's two ways of climbing. You've got sustained climbing with afterburner and zoom climbing.
I think the best way to gain altitude in the Tornado is to reach top speed at sea level and zoom climb by going vertical. However, weak climb rate means if you were to fly in circles or try entering any kind of dog fight turn rate fight, radius fight , you'll lose all your energy and won't be able to build up your speed quickly.
The Tornado IDS manual says the fastest way to climb is afterburner on, wings swept by some amount I can't remember the angle , maintain a constant speed of Mach 0. Yeah mach 0. Is there anything in the IDS manual that states a rate of climb figure?
I believe they Tornado F3s were initially equipped with automatic wing sweep but the pilots later decided to manually control the wing sweep to extract the best performance computer didn't respond as fast as the pilot. It was said to be the same as changing gears in a car. I managed to find myself a copy of the Tornado IDS performance data manual. Skip to content. Menu Close. English Cymraeg. Sign in or sign up.
